Actor French Stewart has parked himself at FOX, where he'll star as a driving instructor in a sitcom pilot.

Stewart, best known for his role as the dumb-guy alien on NBC's "3rd Rock from the Sun," signed a one-year deal with FOX this summer. Since then, he's been working with producer Matthew Carlson ("The Wonder Years") to develop the idea, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to the wacky bunch he teaches at his driving school, Stewart's character will also have to look after his grandmother after she's kicked out of several nursing homes for bad behavior.

Stewart and Carlson will work together on the script, which is based on an idea from the actor. The pilot is targeted for the fall 2002 TV season.
